Voluntario Global is a social organization that promotes education and training as a means to enhance the future of individuals and organizations.
We create links between different social organizations. We promote decent employment for youth and the development of social consciousness.
We see political activism as a necessary tool for citizen participation and the only way to generate profound changes that allow the establishment of a more just and egalitarian society.
Volunteers at Voluntario Global enable the training and education of children, youth and adults in community centers and institutions.
Who is part of Voluntario Global?
Each volunteer past and present, each institution and community center, all coordinators and people that are part of the working group.
How we organize
Each community center assigns individuals who work as coordinators of volunteer projects for the center. These coordinators of the different projects collaborate with each other and together form a network.
We are currently working with social organizations, political organizations, governmental institutions, recovered factories, medical facilities and orphanages.
Territorial social organizations: These organizations have specific needs in order to be able to fight collectively for their goals. They also have a close relationship with the territory in which they are located. Thus, there are clearly distinguishable organizations, such as campesino, indigenous and urban due to their different characteristics. In all cases the inhabitants of these territories do not own the land on which they live, however, they have strong connections to the land due to their family ties and customs they have developed in these places.
Urban territorial organizations:These organizations are grassroots groups that have been developing in all large cities in Latin America, especially in poor areas at the margins of urban areas. These areas all share the same characteristics and problems: lack of services, poor and dangerous living situations, poor health and education. The organizations are located in large cities and therefore close to the centers of wealth and politics of the State. They are constantly struggling against the authorities in the cities fighting for more equality and social justice.
Recovered Factories: After the 2001 crisis, people began to organize themselves spontaneously by forming assemblies and looking for creative alternatives for the recovery process. Recovered factories that had been abandoned by their owners got reactivated by workers.
State Institutions: Medical centers, public schools and other state institutions that benefit from the help of volunteers.
In 2001 Argentina entered an economic, labor and social crisis as a consequence of an oppressive neoliberal system. After years of privatizing state institutions, devaluating currency, destructing national industries and closing factories, an impoverished middle class and a devastating poor class emerged. Shortly after the crisis society began to organize in the form of spontaneous assemblies looking for creative alternatives that would lead to recovery.
Emerging economies: Factories that have been recovered by workers, factories that had been abandoned by their owners and are now in the hands of workers. Small cooperatives connected to grassroots organization also serve as emerging alternatives to unemployment.
Current Situation: The Argentinean state has managed to regain its autonomy and has been working towards a better future with more justice for all.
