Hostel Receptionist in Iguazú Falls

Program description
  
The hostel is located in one of the most popular tourist areas of Argentina,  Iguazu falls, declared a  natural monument of humanity and found within a protected national park.
  
In spite of this, environmental awareness and the importance of its protection in this area is not prioritized in this area.
The hostel tries to offer residents (mainly young backpackers) dates which allow them to enjoy nature and the areas attractions in a responsible way.
  
Volunteers will work in reception greeting arriving customers as well as in touristic information and booking touristic activities.
 
 
 
Volunteers tasks
  
Tourist information and Public Relations:
  
  • The volunteer will recommend and offer touristic activities and promote responsible tourism.
  • Offer clear and certified information on opportunities and activities available in the area, promote the best rates and the services which abide by sustainability guidelines.
  • Promote activities that support the community and encourage respect for nature.
  • Work with the receptionists on PR and organizing events.
  • Promote conscientiousness within the hostel e.g. recycling, economic use of energy and water.
  
Research: look into the touristic activities offered and define those which conform to guidelines of responsible tourism and sustainability.
  
Minimum stay
8 weeks
Spanish level required
Intermediate (B1-B2)

Availability


All year round. Working hours to be agreed with the hostel manager in accordance with planned activities.

Local coordination


The hostel manager will supervise the actions, ideas and research of the volunteer. The volunteer will also work with the other receptionists, who will also be working to promote sustainability.

Location and first day


City of Iguazu, Misiones, north of Argentina. The first day you will be be introduced to all the staff and shown around the hostel. The next few days will be spent covering the tourist attractions and beginning research. This will take up at least the first week.
