Program description
|
The house is an open space for all the kids with the problems of HIV directly or indirectly. It is also called the house of “prevention”.
One of the main goals is to provide workshops and classes and also spend time with the children: listen to them, understand them, tell them that it is not just a canteen but that the house also a second home.
Kids have lunch every day and, after that, they have different afternoon activities to do. Some of the activities are: school support, English, sport initiation, computer, visual arts, juggling, choreography and music.
The kids are between 6 and 14 years old, the workshops divide them into two groups of different ages.

Volunteers tasks
|
Assisting in workshops: the students work together with the coordinators at every workshop which means that there is only one teacher per workshop and it is very difficult to give all the kids the attention they need in that way.
Volunteers also assist during meals times and afternoon snacks to serve and organize the children.

I´m very glad I found Voluntario Global When I began to search online for organizations to volunteer through, it seemed very one of them was a business, primarily concerned with profiting of the abundance of foreigners wanting to donate their time to a worthy cause in a city in which there are plenty. Voluntario Global was the only organization I found that seemed solely and genuinely interested in working to effect positive change. Keep doing what you´re doing!
