VOLUNTARIO GLOBAL NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION
During the year, new doors open and we are able to fill places with hope, knowledge, fondness and responsibility. At the end of the year, we usually celebrate with a big party for everyone. This year we decided to for-go the party. This decision makes us stronger.
One of the doors we open every day to help could be closed forever; the orphanages that are home to many children.
They need urgent repairs, otherwise they will be closed. Their walls are crumbling, the bathrooms do not work, and the bedrooms need adequate furniture as well as improvements to the electricity.
Nobody will be able to close the doors if we all help this holiday season.
Lend a hand to help us keep them open.

Why do we need help?
In order to buy the necessary material for the repairs.
Who will make the repairs?
People from the shanty towns who work in construction will work for free and have a volunteer brigade to help them.
FUNDRASING: CHECK HOW'S IT GOING SO FAR
The three orphanages homes were no longer fit for purpose given the extensive structural improvements necessary to provide a safe environment for the children. These include rewiring the electrics, plumbing and general maintenance.
The total cost of this comes to ARS 16.800 and the deadline will be January the 8th 2010. Thanks to your help we have managed to collect 14% of this.
Hopefully we can keep these doors open.
Bonnie - United States: ** PR & Marketing for the NGO **

I went to Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, in June and July 2008 to work as a volunteer in the Voluntario Global charity, a community-based organization working with the children and families of the impoverished, shanty satellite barrios of the city. Argentina, and especially areas in and around Buenos Aires, are home to many slums and shantytowns where children in particular are marginalized and where real barriers exist to education and personal development. Additionally, Buenos Aires is a city of immense contrasts, most notably in the very unequal distribution of wealth and the existence of genuine poverty affecting children's personal, social and educational development. Voluntario Global is a charity organization created and run by the community who best understand the problems of the area and the help needed to improve the lives of the children, young adults and their parents who live there. It is a charity that exists and grows solely through the efforts of local and international volunteers.
Victoria - England: **HIV affected children** and **Childcare (Orphanage)**

I am currently working with Voluntario Global in an orphanage, in a town just outside of Buenos Aires. My work involves caring for and playing with the fifteen children that live there. The home is an inspirational place to be. The children have been through a lot in their short lives, and so, can display challenging behavior at times. However, the staff and volunteers ensure that the home is a place where they are able to express themselves in a happy, positive, loving and safe environment.
Voluntario Global was recommended to me by a friend, and I am immensely grateful for this recommendation! The work that is undertaken by the organization is both sustainable and directed at where it is most needed. Furthermore, Voluntario Global is truly grassroots and empowers the residents of the city to make positive change happen for themselves! I have been made to feel incredibly welcome here in Buenos Aires and met so many incredible people.
So, if you are looking for an opportunity to undertake worthwhile work within a community that really needs your help, and with an organization that provides full support from the moment you enquire about opportunities, I recommend Voluntario Global wholeheartedly. I assure you, to be part of it all, even in a small way, is a real honor...
